I think this is a Rattling Cisticola but given what the Cisticola family is like (they’re all very alike) and given that #Kruger has lots of Cisticola…more than happy to be corrected

Not a difficult bird to see, plenty of them around the water pools etc. Nonetheless a nicely plumaged species - the Blacksmith Lapwing. With the added bonus of a Wood Sandpiper.

Und immer wieder #Elefanten 
Das waren unsere Lieblinge auf der #Safari
Über 11000 gibt es inzwischen im #KrugerNationalPark und oft waren die nur wenige Meter von uns entfernt. Wir standen häufiger minutenlang nur geparkt herum und haben beobachtet, wie sie aus dem Busch immer näher kamen und dann den Weg gekreuzt haben.
Was für ein tolles Erlebnis.

Das ist im Sommer gar nicht so leicht, da das Gras hoch steht und Raubkatzen ganz gerne darin liegen und pennen.
Übrigens auch ein Grund, warum wir von den #Big5 keinen Leoparden gefunden haben. Vielleicht lag einer nur wenige Meter entfernt...
Jedenfalls ein großer Vorteil eher gebuchten #Safari . Die Fahrer kennen sich aus, man sitzt deutlich höher und sie sprechen sich ab. So kamen schnell ein paar Fahrzeuge zusammen. Ein Privatwagen (schon ein SUV) kam auch zufällig vorbei und fragte, was es denn für Tiere zu sehen gäbe. Dem sind die tollen Tiere leider entgangen.
Jedenfalls standen irgendwann eine nach der anderen aus ihrem knapp 10m entfernten "Nest" auf und gingen etwas weiter in den Busch. Zuletzt auch ein großes Männchen.

#Vögel gibt es hier natürlich auch eine ganze Menge. Von diversen #Geier , die morgens auf ihren Einsatz warten, über Raubvögel, ganz Bunten und auch #Marabu

Was hier zuhauf herum steht und läuft sind diverse #Antilopen , #Impalas , #Kudu , Spring- und Gabelböcke usw.
Beeindruckend, wie entspannt solche Beutetiere sein können, gerade im Vergleich zu heimischen Rehen. Kann man in wenigen Metern Entfernung dran vorbei fahren, juckt die gar nicht...
