Anybody else have favourite storage/work flow #KitchenHacks?

Here's a couple that make my life much easier.

Left: inside of a cupboard door with four cup hooks being used to hold stand mixer attachments. Very easy to access and uses otherwise unused space.

Right: side of cabinet in kitchen that sticks out beside prep area. 90° steel hooks hold a variety of measuring spoons, cups, mixing and other small useful things that would otherwise get all mixed up in a drawer.

Strong ginger, on demand.
Fresh ginger doesn't last. Jarred Ginger can be weak. But you can freeze ginger w/ a powerful kick, to add to meals, tea, etc.

Put metal cookie sheet in the freezer to fully chill.
Scrape off ginger's skin w/ spoon, discarding dry, fibrous sections. Blend smooth.
Put ginger on wax paper, plastic sheet, or in a Ziploc bag on cookie sheet. Press flat. Create grid. Freeze. Break ginger into bits. Store in bag or airtight container. Lasts months. Yum!

The secret ingredient to making good European-style tomato sauce, base, or stew great is tamarind paste. It's not just the sugar (but it obviously plays a part) - it adds a different kind of acid which makes the sourness more complex and other kinds of fruity notes that just kick it to the next level.

What are your surprising, unexpected combinations of ingredients?
