Just finished watching #Kantara after fast forwarding a lot of it.
What the heck was the purpose of the film?
It is a lot of time wasted watching toxic masculinity + poor writing.
Also, I have thoughts on the half baked portrayal o/indigeneity through a neoliberal lens.

#Kantara - A good movie, but many parts of it did not live up to the hype.

I was puzzled about the disproportionate plaudits until it hit me - for many many people, this must have been their first introduction to the myths, legends, and cultures of coastal Karnataka.

I've been lucky enough to have been introduced to Bhoota Khola 10-11 years ago while travelling in Dakshina Kannada, which is why this didn't feel new.

The movie's still quite impressive though. Worth watching in a theatre.

Weird argument by #Kantara fans to the people who didn't like the movie, "you've watched on OTT, so you didn't like".

It's a baseless argument. I've watched it on OTT too & I consider the last fight as an enthralling experience.

Move on, some like some don't. It's simple :)

Man the last half hour really lifts up #Kantara. The build up till there felt slack and uneven and I was starting to lose interest but then it finally starts to get interesting and the last 15 mins are truly spectacular. Still wish the first 3/4ths was tighter though.
