Just saw the With Banners Held High footage from Wakefield over the weekend thanks to DonkeyDave on Y**t**e and it reminded me of the ace times I had with Paul Whitaker and David Mays in our band Redgrass and when we played at the event 10 years ago - that time has wizzed past ->

It turns out the rest of us *can* join a union.

It looks like #UniteTheUnion is the most obvious choice. But I'm new to this.

So… Those of you more knowledgeable than I… Should I join Unite, i.e. the same union my employer recognises? Is there one that’s best for financial services workers? Is there a benefit to picking one over another?

The more I read, the more convinced I am that the only way forward is by working together. Governments and employers keep trying to push change from the top down. We combat that by working together to drive change from the bottom up. One key player in that will be unions.

I've always thought that calls to join a union didn't include me. My employer recognises and works with a union – but only at the lower levels. Those of us classed as ‘management’ are exempt.
