@RalphBrooker I was always liked the #JohnSurman record "The Amazing Adventures of Simon Simon," a duet with #JackDeJohnette. Jack plays more synths than drums on that record. Great playing from both.

I used to be such an ‘#acoustic’ over ‘#electronic’ snob, especially in #jazz. Trying to pin down how that changed. Two possible sources, the lingering influence of early #Genesis’ #TonyBanks. But also #JohnSurman. Latterly #Ircam. I started off on saxes. But changed to piano. Saxophone was very difficult to sustain in the army, constant operational tours. Gave up amateur music but inherited a #Technics synth. Appalling key action. But had so much possibility.
This album had an enormous impact on how I viewed the future of modern #jazz and #improvisation, #electronics in #music. #JohnSurman. #1980s Surman’s work retains freshness.
