As U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet in Alaska for a high-stakes summit, Democracy Now host a debate between two foreign policy thinkers about the war.

John Mearsheimer is an international relations theorist at the University of Chicago, known for his realist perspective. He has long argued that Western policies are the main cause of the Ukraine crisis.

John Mearsheimer is in my opinion a most clear thinking and correct in his assesment on the current Russian Ukraine situation and its background.
The segment on the podcast about Russia and Ukraine is a must see/listen. Yes there are uncomfortable truths being exposed, for us in the West that is, we are not as innocent as we like to believe. And Russia for their part did a lot more to avoid war, for years on end, than we in the West are aware of. This lack of knowledge about affairs and failure in putting yourself in the persons shoes seeing things from their perspective leads to foolish thoughts and misunderstandings. At least Lex Fridman promotes voices you seldom hear, John Mearsheimer does an excellent job in explaining the situation as objectively as he can, can't say that about or Western news media.
Also, the topic of China and the Israel/Palestine being discussed on the podcast was good listening.
