d4doome<p>State’s Attorney is a 1932 melodrama. John Barrymore is a hotshot lawyer who defends gangsters and a likeable streetwalker with whom he falls in love. There’s plenty of pre-code content. From a writing standpoint, it’s interesting to stack against <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Hecht" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Hecht</span></a>, <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/MacArthur" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>MacArthur</span></a>, and <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Hawks" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Hawks</span></a>’s better known film, “His Girlfriend Friday” (4/4), which never fails to dazzle.</p>
