@ivan when insulin costs $10 a bottle but sells for $300, o reserve the right to call that corporate greed. When they decide to lower the price to $35 (because they totally can) but then call this lowering a “market growth opportunity” that’s greed. It’s also capitalism. The problem is both, but 300-400% markup is just selfish. #Insulin4All

"Eli Lilly will cap the out-of-pocket cost of its insulin at $35 a month"

"The change, which Eli Lilly said takes effect immediately, puts the drugmaker in line with a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act, which in January imposed a $35 monthly cap on the out-of-pocket cost of insulin for seniors enrolled in Medicare."

A direct result of competent government action.

This is a B. F. D. of the highest order.

NBC News · Drugmaker Eli Lilly caps the cost of insulin at $35 a month, bringing relief for millionsBy Berkeley Lovelace Jr.

This person paid only $15 for a refill of insulin, instead of the full $2788,10. For a live-saving drug, these prices are insane. I cannot imagine how it must've been to pay around a month's salary for a single refill of insulin...

Luckily, change is being made. Finally.

@QasimRashid even those of us on Medicare or another insurance with affordable insulin prices are at risk so long as insulin is priced so high.

A broken vial, an ineffective vial, your prescriber dropping the ball on refills, and any other number of everyday mistakes can mean you're stuck between paying full price, switching to another insulin that works completely differently, or trying to go without until the problem is solved.
