Nice and necessary feature!
However, I prefer to separate my chats by using multiple #chat accounts. Outside of working hours, I disable my work account. During work, I disable my private account. I also have a special account just for my #freeSoftware activities, and yet another for "#socialMedia" stuff.
AFAIK, not yet possible with Signal. Maybe soon?

The state of #InstantMessaging in 2025: I have one virtual workspace dedicated solely to #IM clients. They occupy 820 MB of memory, which is actually an improvement since the last time I checked.
But I still miss the days when all I needed was #Pidgin.
