What's going on?! Another selection! "Terminus" wasn't just selected, it has been nominated for a Golden Chainsaw Award at the Varaždin Trash Film Festival in Croatia! Woohoo!

The festival runs from September 10-13 in the picturesque town of Varaždin in the north of Croatia.

Why would Terminus be selected for a Trash film festival? Because it was made on a shoe-string budget. Officially, it cost us about €136, but in reality only €16 went into the actual production, with the rest of the money being spent mostly on beer!

You can find out more information here: https://www.trash.hr/

🎥 Awesome news - "Terminus" was selected for the BUT Film Festival in Breda (Netherlands) in August! Great!

Both Ashley Butcher (director) and John Finnan (Gary) are planning to be there - will you be there too? The theme of BUT this year is "Virtual Insanity" - all about technoparanoia, digital nightmares, and the consequences of technology taking over.

The festival runs from August 27-31 in the beautiful town of Breda. For more information, check out: https://www.butff.nl/

They Call Her Death

Guild Cinema, Saturday, July 5 at 10:30 PM MDT

THEY CALL HER DEATH on Instagram: "Coming to ALBUQUERQUE, NM Vinegar Syndrome Pictures presents a Sunrunner Films production of “THEY CALL HER DEATH” - screening at @guildcinema on July 5th! Writer/director Austin Snell will be in attendance for a Q&A, and Vinegar Syndrome will be in the house with a pop-up shop! “THEY CALL HER DEATH” is a throwback splatter western shot entirely on 16mm film! Molly Pray is on a bloody crusade against the criminal forces who have wronged her. Her mission strikes at the myth of manifest destiny, but for Molly, with the embodied specter of Death on her side, this isn’t political. This is personal."

Hell or Hot Water & Other Experimental Films

Guild Cinema, Friday, June 27 at 07:00 PM MDT

Dir. Various - 2025 - 90m total approx.

An experimental “hot tub western” short film, created by an ensemble of New Mexico based artists and filmed in Truth or Consequences, NM!

The film is an irreverent reimagining of the western genre, playing with the vocabulary of the Hollywood genre - saloon, showdown, dust, card game, fate, death - to create a campy pastiche. The project was inspired by underground films of the 1950’s-70’s, such as Andy Warhol’s Lonesome Cowboys (1968), Kenneth Anger's Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome (1954), Alejandro Jodorowsky’s El Topo (1970), and Sheila Page’s Women’s Happy Time Commune (1972).

Hell or Hot Water was created in an anarchic, potluck-style: each player came up with their own character and costume, and the ensemble developed scene ideas together. The project was shot on rolls of expired 16mm film with a  Bolex film camera and all the sound in the film was sourced from vinyl records and cassette tape recordings.

The filmmakers/ensemble include Beth Hansen, Jenette Isaacson, Lacey Chrisco, Chandler Wigton, Alys Griego, Joseph Reeves, Holly Adams, Leon Rael, Ariel Dougherty, Charlotte Janus, Nina Fonoroff, and James Riedeman. Made with equipment and film support from Basement Films.

Showing alongside Hell or Hot Water are a selection of other experimental films by friends that are thematically related.

$5 to $15 donations appreciated!

Quentin Tarantino – „Reservoir Dogs“ (1993)

(ARTE)
