We're kicking off July with another addition to the WWHA program - Nuki!
They bring three different smart lock types to the program certified for use with our Matter integration. Read on for more about Nuki's origin story and the devices certified

Hm. Can't address my hue lights remotely anymore. They wanted me to "create an account" in order to, so maybe it's time I find that zigbee antenna I got for my webserver and figure out how to de-proprietarize them. #homeautomation
It’s janky but it works! Need to de-jank it somewhat now but I’m pretty happy with this so far! I think I will need to find a better reservoir!

Configured one of my #Shelly plugs to turn off when the power draw from the air conditioner it feeds exceeds 1800W, because I've never seen it go that high. Apparently, with 33°C outside, it can happen
At least I now know that the custom max power protection of the plug works

Hey #homeautomation #diy folks.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a small gps unit with WiFi that runs on battery that I can add to my dogs collar ( she is medium size)
I went running today and I would like to see what mill age she gets when we run.
The ones I have found are the size of bricks and are proprietary so you can’t hack on it.
I don’t mind building out my own but I need recommendations for the actual hardware and the kicker is it would be great if the hardware was available in Europe
#Apple should never have gone with the LLM hype and should've focussed on #HomeAutomation. #LLM is a bubble which will burst, but should it actually turn out something useful in 10-20 yrs? An Apple which had focusses on home automation would've been in the ideal situation to actually make it do something useful.

I suspect my RasPi does not what it is supposed to do because it runs out of power. This is getting so out of my own comfort zone
First it works as it should and after a while it ... does everything else except closes the relay to trigger door closing - which is The Reason why it exists!
I guess next thing is to switch it with my other, more capable Raspberry 3, 4 or 5 with the current Zero and try with a new hardware and maybe bigger phone charger.
Just finished setting up the dual zigbee/zwave PoE kit from @tubeszb@mastodon.social
He was very helpful (as always!) in getting it working -- I needed an additional config because I had an older zigbee radio.
With the new Mikrotik networking setup I have way fewer PoE ports than I had before (24 before vs 7 now) in the network core so every bit helps!
Still plenty of open PoE ports in the media center switch so I am not exactly short on ports

So we have a solar installation with an EWZ energy manager, which is a embedded system that measures the total power of the house, both consumed and produced by the solar panel, problem is, this thing has no API and AFAIK is in maintenance mode.
With a bit of hacking around, I finally managed to get write small python script that gets the measurements from the command-line, as a small JSON dump. That was easy, now comes the hard part, integrating this into #homeassistant #homeautomation

apparently Home Assistant lets you set a back_path
variable on subviews so if you link to that subview or you have pop-up cards, hitting the back button will actually go to the view you set it to go to that's super nice, I wish I knew about that sooner. gotta get better at reading the documentation.
