@fuchsiii @foone I mean, it's a weird analog (!) optical (!!) media that suffers from disc-rot (!!!) and used long infrared lasers (longer wavelenght than the IR laser diodes for CDs as it predates CDs (!!!!) and it did #HD (or rather #HiVision) with #compression before #DVD and even #Dtheater existed!

@johnmacintosh #Funfact: #NHK's #HiVision standard used #MUSE as an #interlacing format to deliver that with #analog signals...
It’d be interesting to see all of the Montreux stuff get an official HD release #oldmedia #sony #hdvs #hivision #internetarchive
Of course no New Year’s Eve is complete without browsing through the October 1993 Sony HDVS Software catalog:

Props to Op/Reely for archiving all this wonderful stuff!
#VinylVideo is what happened when an Austrian decided he wants to mix #HiVision #MUSE and #CED but use a regular 45rpm single... to make #Video on a #Vinyl.

@SlicerDicer it's interlaced in a 4:1 pullup version.
Also that resolution is per Eye...
So it looks like a #HiVision #LaserDisc but with scanlines...
