I do have to say, the description that HP sticks on their firmware upgrades is comic:
"For more information, please refer to hp.com"
Because hp.com is such an useful landing page if you want information for a specific update.

Le marché des consoles portables pourrait encore s'agrandir avec l'arrivée d'un nouvel acteur issu de l'univers du PC gaming : HP. Pour l'heure, le géant préfère toutefois avancer à pas de loup, refusant catégoriquement de s'allier à #Microsoft.

New HP laptop, and was forcibly upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04 by lack of hardware support. Finding things...not good?
Initially experienced regular terrible freezes that wouldn't wake, found some errors in dmesg pointing to power management, so switched to a higher wattage brick, seems better now.
But meanwhile, finding that my display manager is wonky? Sometimes randomly one of my 3 screens will stop receiving control input. Can't move the mouse to that screen anymore. So long as it's not the primary screen, I can open the display settings, move the screen to a different location, and then it will reset. Alt-F2-r no longer works in Wayland so I can't just ask for a reset of the DE/DM.
What a mess. Not sure whether the fault of #wayland , #hp, #ubuntu or something else.
