It’s not uncommon to see products sold on shop shelves that market themselves as ‘carbon neutral’ or ‘environmentally friendly’. But these claims are not always clear or backed up by evidence - and courts are forcing companies to take them down.

Like everyone in #birminghamuk I'm affected by the bin strikes which means my recycling isn't being collected. I can't get to the tip myself / I don't want to just throw away my recycling which means it is all collecting in my flat.

A relative back home mentioned 'biodegradable trash bags' the idea being I could throw out my cardboard recycling and it would biodegrade at the dump / landfill.

Question: do these really work or is this #greenwashing ? Doesn't biodegrading require air?
