It shows two alternatives: @ente and #Immich. I would recommend #Ente over #Immich. It is a great software, I also use it. Its image editing capabilities are not as advanced as #GooglePhotos', but they are improving them too. It has good #AI features, if you are interested in them, and is fast and reliable. Plus affordable too (its #freemium)

PixelUnion made good also on the third of the three promises they made to me: they posted a guide to transferring photos from Google Photos to their hosted Immich solution. I'll use immich-go to migrate my photo library over the next weeks.
Je suis aussi en train de réfléchir au stockage de mes photos : j'ai tout sur #GooglePhotos pour le moment mais je n'ai plus de place là-bas, donc il faut que je trouve une solution. Je me disais que j'utiliserais peut-être NextCloud pour ça aussi mais ça impliquerai que je paie un supplément pour avoir plus de stockage chez Zaclys, ce que je pourrais faire en soit mais j'aimerais tester l'auto-hébergement.
J'ai ressorti mon #RaspberryPi 3, insallé @yunohost et je voudrais tester #Immich. J'avais lancé l'installation mais en écrivant ce toot je viens de vérifier et : ça a fait planter mon Raspberry Pi, l'interface m'avait prévenu et ça s'est produit

You said the rollout would start this month. Today is the last day of the month and no update so far.
For someone #degoogling their life, I sure do use #Gemini a lot - but for good reason.
It's been helping me by generating a couple of Python and bash scripts to organize my photos - in particular merging my #GooglePhotos takeout folder with my larger collection before I back it all up to #Jottacloud.
It's like using someone's left hand to sever their right one. Thanks, Gemini.

"Google confirmed this week via a short blog post that Google Photos is getting an upgrade. The upgrade is aimed at those that edit photos, specifically HDR photos. Previously, when editing these photos, you could potentially lose dynamic range and HDR metadata, but thanks to changes the platform has made, all of that important information will remain intact."

Ich benutze seit nun etwas über einem Jahr Immich als Galerie- und Backup-Lösung
Ich hatte vorher auch einige andere Programme für die heimische Cloud ausprobiert aber Immich konnte mich am meisten überzeugen.
Was mich bisher immer etwas gestört hat, war das die Suche nicht besonders präzise war und auch eher nur auf englisch funktioniert hat.

The Google Photos alternative PixelUnion, a hosted Immich solution based in Europe, made good on another of their promises to address the issues I pointed out in my feedback. They added an RSS feed to their blog and now joined Mastodon. They're also planning a guide for migrating from Google Photos as I also suggested.
Feedback to Big Tech platforms is slightly less effective.
