I think it sucks Raising Cane's plans to push Norms out of their own iconic building even though Norms is still doing business.

Pictured: Courtesy Coffee Shop in Blythe, CA at the Arizona border. The shop opened in 1964 and featured a rotating pole sign and boomerang roof. I shot this in 2022.

Fell down an internet rabbit hole and ended up here at the Vintage Pool Party group on Flickr dedicated to vintage swimming pool imagery from the 1930s to 1980s. It's mostly from 50s and 60s American motel postcards and I love this design aesthetic that includes lots of great examples of Googie architecture with its then-futuristic style.

A huge sign in Googie architecture style (futuristic, many fonts) rises from the building. "Sands" is in a brown cloud shape. "Motel" is brown but on a square background. "Restaurant" is smaller and on a green sign below that. A cinema style board below states "Now open swimming pool". All the signs are connected by a giant boomerang-style arrow pointing right. A few people are in the pool and a few others are sat on its edges with feet in, while on the lawn area in the foreground a few tables and chairs with large parasols for shade are occupied by women looking on.
