Dave Nanian<p>Horace Parlan - Up &amp; Down</p><p>Pretty stellar combo with Parlan on piano, Booker Ervin on sax, Grant Green on guitar, George Tucker on bass and Al Harewood on drums.</p><p>Always a little amusing to have a van Gelder engineered piece with a piano-led group…where everything sounds great BUT that. Comes with the territory…</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/nowplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nowplaying</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/vinyl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinyl</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/jazz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jazz</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/hardbop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hardbop</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/HoraceParlan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HoraceParlan</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/GrantGreen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GrantGreen</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/BookerErvin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BookerErvin</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/AlHarewood" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlHarewood</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/GeorgeTucker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GeorgeTucker</span></a></p>
Dave Nanian<p>Stanley Turrentine - Comin’ Your Way</p><p>1961 sophomore album from Turrentine, but inexplicably not released until 1978 or so.</p><p>A great session at the Van Gelder studio, with Horace Parlan (piano), Tommy Turrentine (trumpet), George Tucker (bass), and Al Harewood (drums).</p><p>Hard bop all the way, pretty great. No idea why it wasn’t released until so much later…</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/nowplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nowplaying</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/jazz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jazz</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/hardbop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hardbop</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/StanleyTurrentine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StanleyTurrentine</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/HoraceParlan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HoraceParlan</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/GeorgeTucker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GeorgeTucker</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/AlHarewood" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlHarewood</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/TommyTurrentine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TommyTurrentine</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/vinyl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinyl</span></a></p>
