Early morning the other day, while i was watching a sunrise over a favorite spot on Goodby's Creek, I heard the baby herons screeching high up in their nest, demanding breakfast. Soon enough an adult flew in and sat in the nest with them. Very awkward positions at first, the adult here looks uncomfortable and the two babies are just a blur of black feathers in this shot. Same heron pair as last spring, same tree. Now there's two nests up there, high above, near the top of a pine tree.

Jacksonville has plenty of upscale wealthy neighborhoods, and significant middle class neighborhoods ... but don't let my photo journeys mislead ... we have some of the poorest neighborhoods in Florida too ....
