Vivian Harris<p>Once again a white middle class man saying voluntary simplicity is a good thing but too hard. I think his imagination is not very well developed. Myself and friends are already doing it while he just thinks about it. <a href="https://aus.social/tags/amreading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>amreading</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/voluntarysimplicity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>voluntarysimplicity</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/frugalhedonism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>frugalhedonism</span></a></p>

Lapscallion<p>So baking your own bread at home isn't really a money saver compared to buying it from a supermarket once you factor in the cost of your time, you just can't compete with industrial scale production. </p><p>However, having someone come over for hot bread and jam sure as hell beats going out.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/baking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>baking</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/frugalHedonism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>frugalHedonism</span></a></p>

Gssy<p>Here's the view from my front verandah. When we moved in, 10 years ago, this was lawn. We have an unremarkable block in the burbs, and I think this shows that Paradise can be made at home. I realise this is less accessible to the 1/3 of Australians who rent - if homeowners weren't always striving for more, the property market would be more accessible to everyone. That would be an extra benefit (in addition to Quality of Life improvements) for people who embrace <a href="https://aus.social/tags/retrosuburbia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrosuburbia</span></a> and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/frugalHedonism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>frugalHedonism</span></a></p>
