I am scared of losing data.<br>All said, based on your experience I'll really try Syncthing to see how it addresses my use case. Thank you so much. 👍</p>

Tobias, the putrified<p>I need to set up a better <a href="https://gamepad.club/tags/backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>backup</span></a> solution. Currently using <a href="https://gamepad.club/tags/FreeFileSync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeFileSync</span></a> to just sync between my computer and my backup disks. Works fine, but one of the disks is almost full, and I need to move stuff to the other drive, and it's sloooow over USB 2. Plus there's too much manual labour involved. <br>So a networked solution and bigger disks coming up in 2025.</p>

Herbert Hertramph<p>Realsync:</p><p>Hier noch ein kurzes Video zum Ablauf.</p><p><a href="https://bildung.social/@_DigitalWriter_/113634811492777467" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bildung.social/@_DigitalWriter</span><span class="invisible">_/113634811492777467</span></a></p><p><a href="https://bildung.social/tags/freefilesync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>freefilesync</span></a> <a href="https://bildung.social/tags/backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>backup</span></a> <a href="https://bildung.social/tags/usb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>usb</span></a></p>
</p><p>Wird das Tool fündig, so löst es die entsprechende Aktion aus - etwa die Kopie in ein Backup-Verzeichnis usw.</p><p><a href="https://bildung.social/tags/freefilesync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>freefilesync</span></a> <a href="https://bildung.social/tags/synchronisation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>synchronisation</span></a> <a href="https://bildung.social/tags/backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>backup</span></a></p>
Pixelcode 🇺🇦<p>There's one catch: The donation edition covers only 10 devices, and above that you need a business licence, but due to a bug, every Linux device is counted as a new device after rebooting, and unused devices can only be removed after a certain cool-off period.</p><p>Unfortunately, I reboot my Linux computer more frequently than I can remove duplicates from my <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/FreeFileSync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeFileSync</span></a> licence. This means that I run out of FFS licences within a week, just by rebooting the only computer that I installed FFS on.</p>
Pixelcode 🇺🇦<p>As I want to be able to do multiple backups simultaneously and use parallelisation, I bought the donation edition of <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/FreeFileSync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeFileSync</span></a>. Also, FFS is an awesome program that truly deserves crowd funding!</p><p>If you need a feature-rich, reliable file synchronisation and backup program, consider buying <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/FFS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FFS</span></a> here: <a href="https://freefilesync.org/download.php" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">freefilesync.org/download.php</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Benjamin<p>Attempting to copy a folder of 3d scan data: </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WindowsExplorer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WindowsExplorer</span></a> - please wait, it's going to take me several hours to 'discover' everything in this folder before I can even begin to start copying this folder.</p><p>Open-source <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FreeFileSync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeFileSync</span></a> tool - sure thing chief, all this checks out I'll start copying this now.</p>
B. via Scanner eine Datei </p><p>/2</p><p><a href="https://bildung.social/tags/backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>backup</span></a> <a href="https://bildung.social/tags/freefilesync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>freefilesync</span></a> <a href="https://bildung.social/tags/raspberrypi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>raspberrypi</span></a></p>
El Duvelle<p>What’s a reliable software on <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Windows10" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Windows10</span></a> that allows for <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/synchronization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>synchronization</span></a> between folders &amp; files? Something like <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/FreeFileSync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeFileSync</span></a>, but that actually works (I tried it and it only see files half of the time, but maybe I’m doing something wrong).</p><p>This is for <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/ResearchData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ResearchData</span></a> <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Backup</span></a> so I have to be able to trust it 100%.</p><p>Edit: thank you all for the answers, I already have 6 different suggestions to try out so that should be enough! 🙏</p>
