I managed to harvest some before the birds got them all
I feel good, even though I couldn’t make it out fly fishing today

Pretty hot today, not sure I feel like fishing. But I didn’t get out enough this week, and the weekend will be packed with my son’s soccer tournament. I think I should try to fish after work… although I still have a lot to get done today
The deal on Spring Creek is that it's strictly catch and release, not so much to preserve the fishery - although that's the effect - but because the water is so polluted with chemicals like Mynex and Kepone that eating a fish could either give you cancer or cause brain damage. I forgot which

Fly fishing and beer don’t quite mix, but this pebble beach in the middle of the creek feels like the perfect spot for it I still don’t know how to mix them, though

My son’s soccer practice got cancelled for tonight
I will be going fishing instead
I read once upon a time in India insane people were tied to trees on the banks of rivers so the sound of moving water could draw out their madness. I wondered if we had enough rivers and enough trees to give every registered voter in America the same treatment.

Dusk of the Delaware River
I’ve been working a lot, really a lot, so I should take a break
But when I do have free time, I end up fishing or hiking… so it may not be exactly a real break
What is a break?
The water temperature is almost warm enough to cast a soft plastic toad. A great topwater lure for bass, it's fished on and around emergent weeds. The paddle feet kick up the water to attract the fish.
When you get a strike, the trick is to feel the weight of the fish before setting the hook.
I'm can't fish as much as I would like as age & trying to maintain health takes up more time.
From that I've learned to try to make the time I do fish richer. Getting strikes is part of the experience but not everything.
So I will pause often to engage senses; feel the wind & sun on my skin, listen to the water lapping on the boat hull, look around & up clouds and sky. Make more memories than just the catch.
And I will give thanks.

- tributary of the Schuylkill River
A pretty stream flowing through the valley in the woods
I didn’t fish it, and probably won’t, but discovering a new stream always makes me happy
Much is made of logic in fly-fishing these days, especially when it comes to trout, but the bass fisherman is still often faced with trying to decide whether his fish will eat a red and white thing as opposed to a bright yellow thing when there is no discernible reason why he should bite either.

It’s been an incredibly busy week, I definitely need some fly fishing tomorrow
The weather is going to be warm, a lot of people will be out there too
I should go to a quieter, less crowded areas
Wednesday while fishing for the first time ever, I saw a pair of bald eagles on my home lake. I've heard reports of nesting pairs of eagles on nearby lakes, a recent phenomenon.
Why the change?
I believe we have cleaner water & better habitat.
People in power want to take us back to a time when the clean water & air didn't matterm. We can't let that happen.
I could be wrong, but I don't want to go backwards and find out.
Reminding all tomorrow is #FishingFriday . It's the perfect day post a fishing photo, comments, question, and stories. Your preferred fishing method, or species doesn't matter.
Catch and release is encouraged.
Stories must contain a minimum 25% truth.

Walking around while my son’s at a soccer tryout
Raining all day, and the creeks keep rising
The rain won’t stop until morning, water will be very high tomorrow,
but can’t wait until Sunday, I will go fishing tomorrow

No time to fish tomorrow
It’s the opening day of trout season While it may not be the best day for fishing, it’s more of a ceremonial event, and it’s a great day to see people out enjoying the outdoors and the tradition.
I’m ready, just in case I find a moment to sneak out there
