Scribblemacher<p>I started this random <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/DS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DS</span></a> game on a whim called <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/FightingFantasy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FightingFantasy</span></a>, apparently based on a roleplaying book series of the same name.</p><p>I didn't expect much. It doesn't make a great first impression, but are giving it some attention, it's actually very impressive. It is fully 3D and has combat similar to Elders Scroll. Like Elders Scroll, it's also janky out the butt and the difficulty curve is nonsensical. </p><p>It's doing some cool stuff though. Progression feels great, the environments and setting are neat, and combat is weirdly fun. This might be one of those hidden gems.</p>

Mr Creosote<p>In the old days, game designers tended to make their games *harder*. They were making the games *they* wanted to play, and after having developed something for a few months, they had become true specialists at their own games. In case of <a href="https://dosgame.club/tags/IanLivingstone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IanLivingstone</span></a> and his <a href="https://dosgame.club/tags/FightingFantasy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FightingFantasy</span></a>, this even developed over the course of many books. It may be the reason why <a href="https://dosgame.club/tags/CryptOfTheSorcerer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CryptOfTheSorcerer</span></a> is as insane as it is.</p><p><a href="https://www.goodolddays.net/en/game/Crypt-of-the-Sorcerer/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">goodolddays.net/en/game/Crypt-</span><span class="invisible">of-the-Sorcerer/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://dosgame.club/tags/Gamebook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gamebook</span></a></p>
