Had some fun today installing @hollo because you can never have enough fediverse accounts, right? I'm definitely not avoiding the real world with this distraction.
Hollo is a single / low user platform for the fediverse. It runs on the @fedify framework and supports quote posts, markdown, and emoji reactions.
I went off the beaten path a bit and customized the composer file. Here's my notes on the install process.
Is it me, or does anyone else think the development for Mastodon apps has slowed down?
I’m predominantly an @IceCubesApp user, but I notice they and @ivory have t updated their apps in 3 months.
Not really complaining; just wondering if that’s it?

@pixelfed was mentioned in a Daily Show skit. Hopefully we can all take a joke, but a mention of a fediverse platform on a popular syndicated show is something!
I just love the fediverse. Where else can you find NEW features that include a flash player?! So fun. Plus some serious good stuff like rate limiting and abandoned instance guardrails.
Really nice touch for alt text on Phanpy. As your mouse hovers over an image, the corresponding alt text is highlighted below.
@bonfire is building a native app, and they've started a blog series about the development process.
With big players like Flipboard, Wordpress, Ghost and Threads entering the fediverse, along with bridges to Bluesky and more….your choice of platform will be less about content (you’ll see it everywhere!) and more about the app experience and features you prefer.
Been on the TestFlight of this one. @feeeed is incorporating content from everywhere. While the configuration options says “Mastodon Handle” any fediverse handle I’ve thrown at it works so far.
PeerTube. Lemmy. Firefish. IceShrimp. Friendica. Threads. All alongside blog feeds, Reddit, YouTube, news services, personal photos, birthday reminders and more. The only thing missing is the ability to interact - like or reply direct from the interface.
Just found this custom @MonaApp icon today and it’s a winner winner chicken dinner.
Are there any Android apps that have a good UI for both Reddit-like (e.g. kbin/lemmy) and Twitter-like (e.g. Mastodon) posts?
I use Tusky, which is great for Mastodon and can see kbin posts, but doesn't support them as well as the kbin web UI.
Any suggestions?
Potentially knife question, but… Is there any client app that you can use to keep a list of videos from the Fediverse? I want to be able to create a queue of videos and then use that client to watch them, even if they come from different servers.
Project Tapestry is on fire. Don’t think they will need 33 more days…support if you can! (Edited to add link to Kickstarter)

While the mastodon community has a meltdown over new verbiage attached to a post visibility setting, #Sharkey is offering up seasonal screen effects.
Sometimes you don’t need a good reason. Just add something random that brings a little joy to the table.
A nice collection of Lemmy apps to browse. Haven't heard of many of these - getting difficult to keep up with all the development going on.
For comparison here’s how browsing Mastodon on my phone with #IceCubes looks. Utilizes all the space. Satisfying. Ironically I’m using #MetaText to create this post. Why? Because it is the only #Mastodon app I’ve found that will transcribe onscreen text in images into the description. #AltText
There is no one ring to rule them all when it comes to #FediApps I don’t think.
Trying out Phanpy as a progressive web app (single webpage shortcut) but I don’t think it’s my preference for phone use. I dislike so much wasted screen. I noticed that MetaText is the same. I suppose that may be a big reason I prefer IceCubes. IceCubes has been acting slow and buggy lately tho
Heads up to #FediDev community.
The instance fedi.software, where many fediverse apps have setup their brand accounts, is a Firefish instance run by the creator, who hasn’t been accessible in the past few weeks.
Two of their other instances are already either completely down or partially down. I’m hoping they just need a break and will be back soon.
Might be a good idea to pull some backups, just in case.
OMG I’ve been looking for something like this for quite some time, can we please boost to give it the necessary publicity?
