She was in fact, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/deaf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>deaf</span></a> and <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>blind</span></a>, due to a <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/measles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>measles</span></a> infection when she was a baby, a known potential injury from it which drives the push for <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Vaccines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Vaccines</span></a>. She was a major proponent of the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Disability</span></a> inclusion, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Feminist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Feminist</span></a>, and general <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/CivilRights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CivilRights</span></a> movements of the early to mid 1900s. She is a major figure among <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/marginalized" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marginalized</span></a> groups.</p><p>Claims from the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/History" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>History</span></a>-<a href="https://techhub.social/tags/skeptic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>skeptic</span></a>, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/AntiVax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AntiVax</span></a>, and White Supremacist movements that she is fictional are false: she was a real person who actually lived, with extensive news reports and official documents of her exploits, including meeting presidents Cleveland and Johnson, and we have a whole archive of videos about her. The movie about her is based on the historically accurate story of her childhood.</p><p>You can see a video of Hellen Keller on her nonprofit foundation's channel at...</p><p><a href="https://youtube.com/watch?v=8ch_H8pt9M8" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=8ch_H8pt9M</span><span class="invisible">8</span></a></p><p><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ableist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ableist</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ableism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ableism</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediAbleism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediAbleism</span></a></p>
Raccoon🏳️‍🌈<p>After seeing how <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediAntisemitism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediAntisemitism</span></a> can be useful as a tag (not getting into the issue of false positives on it), I'd like to see something like that for other <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Moderation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Moderation</span></a> issues we see on the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fediverse</span></a>.</p><p>I propose we start using the tags <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediRacism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediRacism</span></a>, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediQueerphobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediQueerphobia</span></a>, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediTransphobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediTransphobia</span></a>, and <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediAbleism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediAbleism</span></a> when posting about examples of those things.</p><p>This will have three major uses...</p><p>1) Serve as a more specific warning to instances that are actively trying to protect themselves against those things. (eg, Black or Queer instances that need to spot <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Racism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Racism</span></a> and <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Queerphobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Queerphobia</span></a> fast to protect their users from <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Harassment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Harassment</span></a>)</p><p>2) Give us a more direct way to track these issues on the network at large, and thus collect data on them.</p><p>3) Provide a more granular tagging for <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/FediBlock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediBlock</span></a> and <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/InstanceBlock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InstanceBlock</span></a> posts.</p><p>I would like to say all this with the disclaimer that these tags always have false positives, so I encourage people to check the receipts before they block.</p><p>What are people's thoughts on this?</p>
