The company IGN has just taken over a number of quirky well-respected gaming sites including Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, GamesIndustry.biz and others, and as one of their first actions they sacked many of the sites' best staff:

If these sites start getting increasingly bland and unreadable, this will probably be the cause.

Oh man, just read the news about ReedPop / RELX wanting to sell Gamer Network. I hope all people at OutsideXbox, OutsideXtra, Eurogamer, Dicebreaker and all other subsidiaries are doing and will be doing alright. Hopefully no layoffs will happen nor the companies getting into severe financial trouble. Also if some investors take over ReedPop's shares I hope they respect all employees and their creative work. #outsidexbox #outsidextra #eurogamer #dicebreaker #reedpop #relx #elsevier

Even the Xbox boss Phil Spencer talks about Linux now! :thinkhappy:

Hows that for a change?

The catapult is the Linux gaming marvel Steam Deck & its game changing impact.

"We have a lot of games in Steam, so I can kind of see and in fact, I think we just saw in the Steam charts that Linux is now ahead of macOS as a runtime platform, and I have to believe the Steam Deck had a ton to do with that."

@boilingsteam that paragraph about #GDPR is a bit weird though.

A) not using something does not equal not wanting to use it in the future, which they can not know.
B) they don't have to remove the account to get rid of the personal data. They could remove all but a username and a hash of the mail address and keep the account passive but able to reactivate at any time.

GDPR is nothing but a scapegoat here though I'm not sure if #Ubisoft has even referenced that or it was #eurogamer|s idea
