The business strategy of <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/china" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>china</span></a> has always been to build cheap tech using their labor.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/bigtech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bigtech</span></a> used to be about quality and innovation. David Pappas<p>I thought it was just me. </p><p>CNN's story this morning on how AI has been populating the MSN News homepage with crap articles and headlines is spot on. </p><p>Last year, I switched from Chrome to Microsoft Edge, both at home and at work. I have been trying to reduce the amount of information I share with Google by avoiding their search engine and related services where possible.</p><p>The MSN News homepage has always been crap, but I decided to retain it as the default page. About one in six articles recommended there is worth my time, but I've never taken the time to switch to another service. The headlines are so obviously clickbait that I'm rarely tempted to even stay on the news page itself.</p><p>I'm guessing <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mamot.fr/@pluralistic" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>pluralistic</span></a></span> has referenced the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/enhittification" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>enhittification</span></a> of MSN before (it's unlikely this is breaking reporting on CNN's part after all), but I found it validating.</p><p><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/02/tech/microsoft-ai-news/index.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">cnn.com/2023/11/02/tech/micros</span><span class="invisible">oft-ai-news/index.html</span></a></p>
