Horror Tree seeks two new children of the dark to move into TWF Towers! We're looking for a new Assistant Editor - Special Editions to handle our 4 seasonal issues each year, as well as a Publications Editor to get our anthologies under control. Could it be you? Details about the roles are in the slides.

If you're interested and understand these are VOLUNTEER roles, email contact@horrortree.com.

Today is the day. Finally committed all the edits on my next book, which means I am now looking for an editor.

After having given my book 2 pass throughs, it's time to give it to a fresh set of eyes. Looking for someone who does a mix of line editing and content editing, and is affordable.

Who I'm looking for: An editor who is knowledgeable about North American football. I like working with women and fellow queers. Won't mind establishing a good working relationship for future books.

About the book: This book is a sapphic sport romance with 51,343 words. It is book 1 of my new series about various individuals in a fictional football league that's primarily comprised of women and trans individuals. This book is centered on a 20-something US football player of Mexican descent who gets injured, which puts her in a identity crisis of sorts. She falls for her physical therapist who is a black woman in her late 20s/early-30s. The plot is about how my MC handles losing her dream job while falling in love.

If interested or if you've got questions, DM me or email me at djsmall@djsmallauthor.com

One of the most common errors I fix when editing is known as false attraction, a form of subject–verb disagreement

Here's an example of what I mean, in a recent (and well-written) article in The Atlantic: "Research into such conditions are grossly underfunded"

A post on why it happens and some of the forms it takes:

Hello! My friend @JanetWordsmith and I are looking for Mastodon's editing community.

Kind and lovely (and happy) folks who raise an eyebrow at participles that dangle, commas that splice, verbs that don't align with subjects, (etc) while keeping the writer's voice.

Along with people, are there instances or hashtags to follow?

My two cents on the #Meta #ThreadsApp discussion. I think my past experience in the publishing industry has given me a unique perspective on the #Fediverse.

The evolution I've witnessed in that industry over the years has helped me to recognize a similar evolution in social media now. My experiences there have shown me how the Ordinary Person has eventually become empowered by new technology-- in this case, ActivityPub and the Fediverse. I don't foresee a reversal in that evolution.

Regardless of what Meta does or does not do with their Threads app, I'm sure of one thing:

#TheFutureIsFederated.
