"Blue Jean" is a song written and recorded by the English singer-songwriter #DavidBowie for his sixteenth studio album #Tonight (1984). One of only two tracks on the album to be written entirely by Bowie, it was released as a single ahead of the album and charted in the United States, peaking at No. 8, becoming his 5th and last top 10 hit with no features. The song is loosely inspired by #EddieCochran.

Death of Eddie Cochran in 1960.
At approximately 11:50 PM on Saturday, April 16, 1960, while on tour in the United Kingdom, 21-year-old Eddie Cochran was involved in a traffic accident in a taxi traveling through Chippenham, Wiltshire, on the A4. The speeding taxi blew a tyre, the driver lost control, and the vehicle crashed into a lamppost on Rowden Hill. No other cars were involved.

From 2019:

Kyle Meredith speaks with Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom about their reunion album 40, how it lines up with their 40th anniversary, and recording the album all live. Phantom tells us that "Everything traces back to Eddie Cochran. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Sex Pistols, Motorhead, none of them exist without Eddie Cochran."
