It was also period where Seat Belts were Strange Contraptions in vehicles unless unless it was a race car which also had a roll cage

Dodgeball is not a sport that was played a lot in my country
Something was done in that effect in gym class but it usually descended into throwing balls as hard as possible to hurt the other players, instead of having fun so the game became forbidden fast

The most interesting thing with Dodgeball (the movie) is at the end the audience is invested in it as a proper sports tournament; the plot suddenly comes second.
