"Oregon Senate passes bill for permanent standard time... or possibly permanent daylight saving time" by KGW News (NBC Portland) - After #SB1038 passage in the #Oregon Senate, it will be up for a vote in the House. If passed by House and signed by governor, Oregon would go along if both CA & WA #DitchTheSwitch too within 10 years. kgw.com/article/news/politics/ #PNW

I watched as #Oregon SB566 #PermanentStandardTime bill apparently died. I didn't realize it was replaced by #SB1038 until that passed the Senate today. On to the House.

The new bill is weird. It'll go along with permanent Standard or Daylight time as long as both CA & WA adopt same in 10 years. Permanent DST would require an act of Congress first, since states aren't allowed to choose it. Excludes Mountain Time portion of Oregon in Malheur County. olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz #DitchTheSwitch #PNW

Texas: New: SB 516 seeks illegal, unsafe, permanent Daylight Saving Time. Filed by Senator Mayes Middleton (R-Galveston), who previously sponsored bills seeking pDST and bills seeking legal, safe, permanent Standard Time. Permanent DST would put TX sunrise past 8am 3–5 months, later even then 9am! When last tried, it cost lives and business, and Texans rejected it. Please urge him and your own state legislators to #DitchTheSwitch the quick, safe, and lasting way, with permanent Standard Time, not permanent DST! #DitchDST #TXLeg #MAHA

California (#CALeg) Senate’s Energy Committee and Appropriations Committee have rewritten SB-1413.

Originally filed to #DitchDST, #DitchTheSwitch, and restore permanent Standard Time, in 2024, at no cost—it would now only *study* Daylight Saving Time, in 2027, for $600,000.

California’s rewritten SB-1413 would only study energy effects of DST—while ignoring health, safety, education, and productivity.

DST has already been studied hundreds of times. It does not save energy. Even if it did, it would not justify its many greater harms to public well-being.

Please contact California Senate leadership, ask them to restore SB-1413’s original wording. 👉 senate.ca.gov/senators/senate-

Also contact your own state senator, tell him/her to support permanent Standard Time. 👉 findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov
