My Anime rankings, Winter 2025: The stuff I liked:
Trillion Game: 7/10. To paraphrase something I heard recently: it's not the greatest thing around. It's no masterpiece. It's just a good time.
Flower and Asura: 7/10 This is what I replaced Vomit Blatt with, and so glad I did. Hana is adorable and Mizuki-senpai is so gay.
Danmachi / Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V: 7/10. While I didn't enjoy this installment as much as previous Danmachi seasons, it's still pretty entertaining and the massive capture the goddess game that serves as its finale was well done and fun to watch. I think I am a bit done with this franchise though and this seems a good place to end it.
Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance (2024): 8/10. Now, it's been decades since I watched through the original Kenshin (yes all of it), but the remake seems to be following the story as I remember it pretty close. It's been fun watching this classic with new visuals. Kenshin's new voice actor seems to have finally found his own voice, especially in regards to the all important "Oro~".
Ishura 2nd Season: 8/10: Ishura manages to make its X-of-the-week format interesting again, though I wonder when we'll get to the third act it keeps telling us about. A single episode of this was more interesting than the entirety of Phrigger put together.
Ameku M.D.: 8/10. I confess, I love it mainly because I adore Takao. Also, goddamn, episode 9. Please stop cutting those onions. It sure as hell did not deserve its place on ANN's "Worst Anime" list, unlike Pukel Blech and Disinterested Lily.
Tasokare Hotel: 8/10: Again I adore the main character. So maybe slightly biased.
Re0 Season 3 Part 2: 9/10. You're either on this train by now or you're not watching it. Do I really need to say anything?
Solo Leveling Season 2: 9/10. Action sequences are great. This is a show that knows how to handle an overpowered main character, too. But at this point, I am wondering if it should have ended a few episodes ago as Sung has achieved the goal he's been striving for already. Sure, the new arc offers many opportunities for great action sequences, but it seems superfluous now. We've pretty much jumped the shark with this one.
And last, but not least, the most fun show I have been watching this season:
The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World: 10/10, I don't even watch sentai and I am just loving this one. Every episode has had multiple laugh out loud moments, moreso than Trillion Game for sure. Also, Teltina's heckin' cute.
