Continued thread

In an era of #hyperdigital world, and uncritical and hasty adoption of 'AI' technologies in universities, and without adequate, independent and credible evidence on short and long-term effects and adverse effects, Paulo Freire's works on #criticalpedagogy are more relevant and timely than ever.

Moreover, why does the oppressed, sometimes, adopt and root for the harmful technologies of the oppressor, or even "become" the oppressor itself?

Pedagogy of the Oppressed, p. 45

"But almost always, during the initial stage of the struggle, the oppressed, instead of striving for liberation, tend themselves to become oppressors, or "sub-oppressors."

This phenomenon derives from the fact that the oppressed, at a certain moment of their existential experience, adopt an attitude of "adhesion" to the oppressor. Under these circumstances they cannot "consider" him sufficiently clearly to objectivize him—to discover him "outside" themselves."

I had a great start of the week yesterday with the release of episode 1 of Degrees of Freedom season 3!

Marco de Carvalho Filho guided Tassos Sarampalis and me through a heartfelt exploration of Paolo Freire’s critical pedagogy and the role of education as a mean for liberation.

Sounds abstract but it was full of practical hints. Marco is leading and living a critical pedagogy experience in a very practical and meaningful way.
