“The Anthropocene is a pressure, not a new state—yet. If we cross enough tipping points, Earth could shift to self-amplifying warming. Staying within planetary boundaries is critical to avoid catastrophic change.”

@da5nsy These are great questions and I agree, should be talked about. Often! Much if not most of my blog is addressing this and reflects that I've lived most of my life in an attempt to exist outside of #capitalism. It's far from being a disconnected or impermeable bubble, but rather, a lived awareness that there are steps to be taken to not cooperate with my own subjugation. I prioritize my #freedom by rejecting #consumerism. I'm still stuck in it, but not to the degree that most are.

an interim collective of diverse civilians should debate our demands, publicly #LIVEstreamed interactively.

we could do without the state, we can form #CommunityFederations and use mutual aid. study #AnarchoCommunism, #organise #resist #EatTheRich & #redistribute.

i am afraid we need to go #ColdTurkey on #consumerism if we want as many of us to survive. practice #empathy 🖤 but organised violence is legitimate & necessary in defense of our rights & freedoms.

Today at work, two things annoyed me:

- I had to watch a shitty PowerPoint presentation packed to the brim with stupid images generated by ChatGPT and everyone was losing their minds about the "cool memes ❤️"
- Everyone (except me) talked about which locations they'll fly to in this summer

Germany is heading towards the hottest and driest summer of all 144 years since humans started recording temperatures.

The Mediterranean Sea is 6°C hotter than the average. This temperature level caused catastrophic floods in Spain and all over Europe last year, killing 240 people in Spain alone.

Two standard deviations are already extreme. We're at eight!!!

In 10–20 years, 90% of all humans will have died, including you and your children. Because we'll be at 4°C above pre-industrial levels. It's certainly not the billionaires who're currently building bunkers underground and artificial islands on the oceans that will be the ones doing the dying.

I really had to constrain myself today. On some days I just want to shake people until they come back to their senses.

Mastodon.greenc. just c. (@cbzo@mastodon.green)Let that sink in: “Parts of the Mediterranean are now running more than 5-6°C above their long-term average as well, or around eight standard deviations from the average. In statistics anything more than two standard deviations from the average is usually considered an extreme departure from normal.” #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis https://www.intellinews.com/europe-swelters-in-historic-heatwave-388341/

Microsoft’s sketchy Win 10 vs Win 11 performance claims pit a 9-year-old PC against a modern machine to claim 2.3X gain

An indication of the worst effects of #consumerism aided by the growing wealth in what once were ‘developing’ nations.

With the world population soon outstripping our world’s capacity to support it, it is time to call a halt to unfettered #capitalism and its associated over #consumption.

We have the means, renewables, open markets, supply lines and over-production, and then some, but not the will. Billionaires, monopolistic practices, market manipulation, extractive industries, fossil fuel corporations, the grifting rich, and more, prevent the rest of the world from taking a step back into sanity and survival.

Spare a thought for the donkeys who have paid the price of middle class fads…

@unfa The problem IMHO is that we have too many numb people around the world.

Even if the switch 2 was sold with a massive warning on the front, telling you that you will own nothing a lot of fanboys will still defend that and most people would still "rent it".
I took the switch2 as an example, this applies for everything, most people aren't Tech savy. The new generation of gamers is way way less curious than the one that came before them and so on.
They no longer care where things came from, how they work, etc.

They have become numb by the society we live in, by the shitty cell phone app stores behaviors and the shitty apps. By the consumerism push to the extreme everywhere and by the normalisation of all the toxic marketing and entreprise behavior.

TLDR : It's almost as if everything prepared everyone for the last 20+years to accept everything even if its not in their interest.

Me (shopping around on #LexCorp): Mmm, this 12oz #YerbaMate gourd I got is just way too big. I can never finish it in a day. Oh, this 8oz one looks really nice! It's only $9!

*POOF* A winged, portly lady wearing sweatpants and a hoodie appears amidst a shimmering blue light, hovering in my room. She is holding a magic wand, which may actually be a miniature magical rubber stress-relieving mallet.

Me: "WHO ARE YOU?!?"

ACFG: "Why silly Dane, I'm your anti-consumerist fairy godmother!"

Me: "Anti-Consumerist Fairy Godmother!?"

ACFG: "Yes, but you don't have to capitalize my name. I'm chill."

Me: "Oh. Well, hi, anti-consumerist fairy godmother. What do you want??"

ACFG: "To bop you on your cute little forehead and to remind you that you don't HAVE to buy a new mate, you can just pour in less yerba, you lunkhead!"

*BONK!*

The world goes dark for a moment. Feeling slightly dizzy, I open my eyes. I close the amazon window and go on about my day.
