A sad update re the state of American #journalism:

We are longtime subscribers to the #ChicagoTribune, a newspaper with 177 years of respected history as a watchdog fighting against #Chicago corruption. Tribune is the second largest publisher of newspapers in the US after Gannett: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribun

We regretfully canceled our subscription based on the terrible business decisions of their #HedgeFund owners who are gradually killing the Trib and its sister publications. The final straw was this notice appearing in the mail, informing us that the price of the newspaper would be jacked up to over $7 per day, hoping we wouldn’t notice.

Apologies to the @chicagotribune reporters, editors and staff who continue to work there. We are switching to @ChicagoSunTimes

#ChicagoTribune Editorial Board: When you think that comparing the traffic issues in the city of Chicago (pop. +2.6M/232 sq mi)) to those of the country of Wales (pop. 3.1M/8K sq miles) is a winning argument, you might wanna lose the smug tone and find a more robust board.
