The engineers did the sound check while the group was warming up and recorded it, capturing this amazing session."

So, und heute die zweite #Telecaster verkauft. Irgendwann 2004/5 gekauft und bei einem Kumpel auf dem Küchentisch ein größeres Pickuploch für einen #charliechristian #pickup am Hals gefräst. War seit vielen Jahren schon Leihgabe an einen Kumpel und der hat sie jetzt auch gekauft.
Aber eine #Tele habe ich noch. Keine Angst

Durante un concerto di Benny Goodman, un giovane chitarrista fu fatto salire sul palco. Il clarinettista non amava questo genere di sorprese, ma il chitarrista era talmente bravo che fu immediatamente ingaggiato nella band. Il suo nome era Charlie Christian.

Apparently, the name "bebop" comes from Charlie Christian's habit of humming along as he played (which you'll also hear Oscar Peterson doing).

This is an amateur audience recording from Minton's Playhouse, so the recording is rather primitive, while the recorded music most definitely is not.
My bandmate #DannyGotham picked this one out to do as part of our pandemic remote videos series.
When Danny was a young man he finished as runner up in the #NationalFingerpickingChampionship in #Winfield, but he’s hell on wheels with a flatpick, too.
He’s doing the main lines in the first tune while I play #LapSteel. I’m playing #guitar for the brief #CharlieChristian break and then most on #Swing 42.

Interestingly, the first amplifiers were so small that there was practically always a distorted sound. Besides, he still, together with Benny Goodman (and others) turned swing into BeBop. BipBopBipdiplybop..
