Spending my holiday on a Lone Wolf and Cub marathon #chanbara
Meanwhile! Finally sat down and watched the first ep of #BlueEyeSamurai.
On the one hand, I dig me some #chanbara tropes. On the other hand there's just enough gratuitous nudity and titillation to make things feel just a little weird.
Which, admittedly, is well in the spirit of 70's samurai flicks. All and all it's yet another reminder that somebody in Netflix's animation department is going for the "boobs and gore!" style from 80's anime VHS'.

Lots of action and bloodshed but the story just isn't as interesting this time out. It's all spectacle.
"#Chanbara チャンバラ", padded #trainingSwords, are an option. They are too floppy, however, to simulate #parries and sliding #blocks.
#Kendô #armour (剣道道具), another possible option, does not protect the whole body; especially some classic #targets like the armpit (八つ口) are completely unprotected. The #bamboo #sparring #sword (#shinai 竹刀) used with the kendô-dôgu lacks the weight and curvature of the real sword, and cannot properly depict some of the #techniques.
