It included speculation that the energy giant may have to blank out their name & logo when the #tdf goes to Edinburgh next year due to council policies.

To even consider planting pines for carbon credits in an area where so much money and effort has been spent removing wilding pines seems ridiculous.

And as Gary Taylor of the Environmental Defence Society points out, “It’s not an appropriate response to climate change in any event because we need to actually reduce emissions, not try to plant our way out of that obligation.”

The European Union has presented its new accounting measures in the battle against climate change. Instead of actually having to reduce the last 3% of the emissions, member states may pay countries outside of the EU to do so in their name.

At the same time Emmanuel Macron wants to take the time to discuss the emission goals for 2040 in order to make them pliable for the competitive power of the #eu.

A Brazilian state was set to close a massive $180 million carbon credit deal, but now faces an escalating legal battle, accused of violating national laws and Indigenous rights, potentially ruining the project.
