David Grayless
Cancer #immunotherapy (immuno-oncotherapy) is the stimulation of the #immuneSystem to treat cancer, improving the immune system's natural ability to fight the disease. John F. Foley
NK cells recognize and kill tumor cells; thus, they are used in immunotherapies. The contact site between an NK cell and its target is called an immunological synapse (IS). In Nature Immunology, Oh et al. found that an NK cell receptor called NgR1 (best known for its function in neurons) destabilized the IS, leading to reduced target cell killing. Thus, targeting this receptor may enhance NK cell-based immunotherapies.
