Nacho Jorganes<p>While the world average per capita <a href="https://social.politicaconciencia.org/tags/CO2_emissions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CO2_emissions</span></a> was 4.79 tons in 2016, there is a man who emitted 4,649.75 t of CO2 in 2022 with his private jets alone (almost a thousand times the world average). <br>In many of the poorest countries in Sub-Saharan Africa – such as Chad, Niger and the Central African Republic – the average footprint is around 0.1 tonnes per year. <br>Private <a href="https://social.politicaconciencia.org/tags/JetEmissions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JetEmissions</span></a> in 2022:<br><a href="https://climatejets.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">climatejets.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br><a href="https://social.politicaconciencia.org/tags/CO2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CO2</span></a> <a href="https://social.politicaconciencia.org/tags/Emissions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Emissions</span></a> per Capita<br><a href="https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/co2-emissions-per-capita/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">worldometers.info/co2-emission</span><span class="invisible">s/co2-emissions-per-capita/</span></a><br><a href="https://social.politicaconciencia.org/tags/SocialJustice" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SocialJustice</span></a></p>

Murat Cem Mengüç<p>Cultures don’t <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/change" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>change</span></a>, at least not healthily, from top down. They change from bottom up. Paradigm shifts happen from bottom up. All top down changes lead to authoritarianism while bottom up change leads to more stable conditions. This is why asking the rich and the corporations to change their attitude towards <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/CO2_emissions" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>CO2_emissions</span></a> and climate change is not enough. We the #99% must change. We have to calculate our own co2 footprint and reduce it. Once the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/paradigmShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>paradigmShift</span></a> occurs, they will follow.</p>
Edgar Hertwich<p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/RoadConstruction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RoadConstruction</span></a> is a major cause of environmental impacts. It cuts through the landscape, disturbes <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>wildlife</span></a> migration routes, seals land, requires large amounts of materials, and causes <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/CO2_emissions" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>CO2_emissions</span></a>. Material stocks in roads vary from 5 t/capita in Africa to 140 t in North America. </p><p><a href="https://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/acs.est.2c05255" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/a</span><span class="invisible">cs.est.2c05255</span></a></p>
