Who counts as human? Throughout history, one all too common thread is that groups of people often do not believe that other groups of people are also #human. If we evolved apart so that we were different species, would we recognize our shared humanity? This week I’m offering free copies of my just released novel HUMAN to the fediverse . Just go to bretthodnett.com/FreeHUMAN.htm and use the code ‘fedihuman’.

bretthodnett.comHUMANA remarkable exploration of family, society, and what makes us human, HUMAN will take you from the post-apocalyptic world of the near future, to the two very different societies that emerge 15 million years later, where those few surviving individuals have evolved to become something that we might not fully recognize as human.

How will humans #evolve into the future? How might humans evolve if our civilization was lost and the climate was unforgiving for millions of years? Or if two populations of humans were geographically isolated for that long? For this week I'd like to offer #FediHumans a free copy of HUMAN. Visit bretthodnett.com/FreeHUMAN.htm and use the code ‘fedihuman’ to get your free EPUB!

If you're in Adelaide, South Australia, the launch of A Murder on the Cards by Katie Jay is happening at 3pm on 13 April 2025 at Beaumont Bowling Club, 71 Devereux Rd, Linden Park. I worked with Katie to edit the novel, which features a murder at a Bridge Club in Glenelg, a circus and a stalker! Council worker and sometimes sleuth Ceclia Archer has a lot going on!

I’m incredibly proud to have contributed to this fantastic new anthology, celebrating the strange and supernatural of Lincolnshire as part of the Not Of This World event!

The book will be launched on the day of the festival at Louth Town Hall, and though I can’t be there, I can’t wait to see it out in the world. It’s going to be an amazing event—so if you can, do come along and show your support for the festival and all the talented writers! Meet the contributors, listen to fascinating talks, and enjoy a taste of the strange and unusual!
