Caro S.
Everyone who has ever said or thought: "Why are you complaining about, scolding, making a big deal out, this word? There are more important things to worry about, like this fascist takeover!"

needs to listen/watch Dylan Rodríguez on Lexical Warfare. He shows how words are part of the fight, or even are the fight. Look e.g. how the right fights with "antisemitism" or "DEI." Diligence Jones
Have you read Audre Lord's essay, 'We Must Learn to Use Our Power'? (1985)

It reminded me of the arson that tried to burn down Baldwin Hills. It is eerily prescient of the BLM movement. It also paints a harsh picture of the social stew in the rising days of the South African divestment movement.

I searched for this essay, looking for this quote:
" We are also citizens of the most powerful country in the world, a country which stands upon the wrong side of every liberation struggle on earth."

I had seen it elsewhere and wanted context. The essay is a compelling argument that ties the struggle for Black freedom from state violence to the Black African movement to free themselves from apartheid in S.A.

It's a fad to reduce feminist thinkers to bite sized quotes for pinterest inspo. Estelle Platini
Reification and objectification

"The notion of objectification concerns an interpersonal relationship, the individual action targeted by morality and law [...]. The notion of objectification, understood in this way, dispenses with a critical theory of society, which is central to the concept of reification. The emphasis is on individual responsibility, on the condemnation of singular acts, rather than on the social structures that demand, authorise or perpetuate these behaviours."

"In her book Dialectics of the Body, Lisa Yun Lee proposes an understanding of reification in Adorno based on the question of the body: the body forgotten by scientific modernity, the repressed body associated with nature and the feminine, the body mutilated by identity violence, and the commodity and spectacle body, instrumentalised for production (Yun Lee, 2004). "All reification is an oblivion": an oblivion of suffering, a collective anaesthesia to the effects of domination systematically organised and reproduced by reification."

Naït Ahmed, Salima ; Loslier-Simon, Marie : « Réification». John Brown Type Beats
"In the practice of our politics we do not believe that the end always justifies the means. Many reactionary and destructive acts have been done in the name of achieving “correct” political goals. As feminists we do not want to mess over people in the name of politics. We believe in collective process and a nonhierarchical distribution of power within our own group and in our vision of a revolutionary society. We are committed to a continual examination of our politics as they develop through criticism and self-criticism as an essential aspect of our practice."

#BlackFeminism #Socialism #Intersectionality

https://www.blackpast.org/african-american-history/combahee-river-collective-statement-1977/

Kellyann
Audre Lorde would have been 90 today.

"The white fathers told us: I think, therefore I am. The Black mother within each of us — the poet — whispers in our dreams: I feel, therefore I can be free. Poetry coins the language to express and charter this revolutionary demand, the implementation of that freedom."

#BlackFeminism #Poetry

La préface de Nassira Hedjerassi m'a apporté un appareil critique me permettant de sans doute un peu mieux comprendre sa démarche. #Feiminisme #BlackFeminism #Wokistan #bellhooks https://www.cambourakis.com/tout/sorcieres/de-la-marge-au-centre-theorie-feministe/
