Meerkats, coatis, and hyenas all show similar (heavy-tailed) distributions of behaviors. The longer they are engaged in a behavior, the less likely they are to switch to a different behavior in the next instant. This may result from positive feedback or environmental/physiological conditions that affect behavioral processes operating at different timescales.

Scientists have figured out why flamingos are such weird eaters

"The lanky birds feed on shrimp and algae in briny swamps and marshes around the world. To grab a bite, they stick their heads underwater and open and close their bill rapidly, as if chattering. Then they stomp their feet and wobble around in the mud, bobbing their heads up and down as they go."

Folks, when placing your carry-ons in the overhead compartment, you should place them ON THEIR SIDES so the compartment space can be maximized.
I'm amazed how many travelers haven't learned this yet...
Not doing so is inconsiderate for those boarding later who then needlessly struggle to find space for their carry-ons.

A quotation from Bill Watterson

CALVIN: Well, Hobbes, I guess there’s a moral to all this.
HOBBES: What’s that?
CALVIN: “Snow goons are bad news.”
HOBBES: That lesson certainly ought to be inapplicable elsewhere.
CALVIN: I like maxims that don’t encourage behavior modification.

I wish the #media didn't keep conflating #misogyny with abusive #behavior and #harassment.

They're not always tied together and they're not in the same ball park as far as harm is concerned.

I'm old enough to remember #germainegreer warning us that treating every transgression equally was a bad idea.

At the time her comment didn't ring many bells, but I remember it because it was a light bulb moment for me.

If every transgression is equally unforgivable no one will say sorry until they have to, by which time it's too late.
