trashHeap :hehim: :verified_gay:<p>I've been fucking around porting an old homebrew urban fantasy campaign to <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/BasicRoleplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BasicRoleplaying</span></a> the last couple of evenings. As it's a nice distraction from political anxiety. Exciting stuff actually. </p><p>It being a bit crunchier than the rest of the <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Chaosium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Chaosium</span></a>'s games has kind of caused me to focus on <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/CallOfCthulhu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CallOfCthulhu</span></a> while I introduce BRP to my gaming group.</p><p>Kind of excited to get a new streamlined edition. John M<p>I am an avid tabletop gamer, board games and ttrpgs. I prefer to GM ttrpgs, but also enjoy playing. I assist my wife in organizing tabletop gaming events in Northwest Arkansas. I read a lot of games and history, and a lesser amount of sci-fi and fantasy.</p><p>I have recently started messing around with hacking some RPG systems. </p><p>I'm currently running a <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/Torg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Torg</span></a> campaign, playing in a <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/BasicRoleplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BasicRoleplaying</span></a> game, and running one-shots for our monthly NWARPG Game Days.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/BoardGames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BoardGames</span></a></p>
John M<p>5th session of our BRP Time Travel game yesterday found us stepping out into a Fallout like world circa 2300.</p><p>We were able to do everything needed to bypass the security on a food storage place, and get a farm up and running. This allowed the people we found to stop relying on a contraption that kept them alive, but hungry and unmotivated.</p><p>We also won a street race against a transformer.</p><p>All in all a fun time, despite my wife's bad luck with experience rolls.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/BasicRoleplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BasicRoleplaying</span></a></p>

Lord Humlan<p>I think I have made a decision.... 😎</p><p>In my quest for the best rules (for me) to use when <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/GMing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GMing</span></a> a <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> in <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/TheExpanse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TheExpanse</span></a> universe. Got selection down to either <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BasicRoleplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BasicRoleplaying</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BRP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BRP</span></a> or <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/YearZeroEngine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YearZeroEngine</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/YZE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YZE</span></a>.</p><p>And the choice is...</p><p>*Drumroll*</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/YearZeroEngine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YearZeroEngine</span></a></p><p>I will base it on <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AlienRPG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlienRPG</span></a>, since talents and skills are best match for Expanse and require least amount of tweaks to be useable.</p><p>I'm also fond of <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/lifepath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lifepath</span></a> character generation, so I have created a draft of a flowchart. Now I need to start to assign actual values to the chart and do some beta testing 😎</p><p>I wonder if I'll ever will be ready to play 🤣</p>
Lord Humlan<p>So, my thoughts about running an <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/theexpanse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>theexpanse</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> campaign is still ongoing.</p><p>But I have narrowed down the options to either <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/YZE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YZE</span></a> or <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/brp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brp</span></a>.</p><p>Year Zero Engine has games like <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AlienRPG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlienRPG</span></a>, <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/CoriolisRPG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CoriolisRPG</span></a> and newly released expansion <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AdAstra" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AdAstra</span></a>. For Basic RolePlaying I will have to turn to <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/CthuhluRising" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CthuhluRising</span></a> and <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/CthulhuThroughTheAges" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CthulhuThroughTheAges</span></a> with <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/CthuhluIcarus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CthuhluIcarus</span></a> as main source for rules.</p><p>As a DM I tend to let my players do plenty of dice-rolls, which in turn drives the story forward, where failures can be as exciting as successes.... 😎</p><p>But YZE punishes dice-rolling and rolling to often can give high amounts of stress to fast.<br>I can always do non-stress rolls when my players are in a non-stress situation. But on the other hand, BRP doesn't punish rolling. But still have mechanics for pushing failed rolls and the consequences of that 😁</p><p>Anyone out there have tried to run YZE with more dice rolling than recommended? </p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/yearzeroengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>yearzeroengine</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/MutantYearZero" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MutantYearZero</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BasicRoleplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BasicRoleplaying</span></a></p>
