It might not look like much, but for me, it's a once-in-a-lifetime photo.
Barn owls are nocturnal. While we sometimes see other owls - like eagle owls, little owls, or short-eared owls - active during the day or at dusk, barn owls only come out at night only.

I spent an hour this morning watching a distinct distant ‘white creature’ in the trees. Just far enough away to not get a clear view with lens & / or binoculars.

At first I thought maybe one of the Buzzards I’ve seen the last few days, it’s breast / underside glistening in the morning sun.

It’s behaviour & perch, that of a bird of prey.

As it flew off I’m convinced it’s a Barn Owl (📷3)

Anyone have any other thoughts?

We braved the cold gloomy weather last weekend and headed up to RSPB Titchwell Marsh. After a day of several firsts for us we headed toward the car, it was getting even darker but we were treated to seeing a Barn Owl come out and hunt.

We could have moved closer but we were so captivated we stayed watching from quite a distance.
