Mandy Watson<p>George is loving this morning's Desert Island Discs, especially the Get Carter theme and the child singing Singing in the Rain.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/desetislanddiscs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>desetislanddiscs</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/bbcradiofour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bbcradiofour</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cats" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cats</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CatsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CatsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/catstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>catstodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/gingertom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gingertom</span></a></p>
Ralph Brooker<p>I remember, decades back, a story about the premature demise of an otherwise promising Labour minister, for having accepted a £300 watch from a high-placed Saudi source. Voila, the press furore. A 🇺🇸 <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diplomat" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diplomat</span></a>, I think he an ambassadorial staffer in London, responding on <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BBCRadioFour" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BBCRadioFour</span></a> said, to the effect: &quot;&quot;£300! You Brits don’t know the meaning of “<a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/corruption" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>corruption</span></a>.” Well, we’ve caught up. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Johnson" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Johnson</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/NadhimZahawi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NadhimZahawi</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Westminster" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Westminster</span></a> is an appalling place. Memories of <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/JoCox" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>JoCox</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/DavidAmess" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DavidAmess</span></a> very much alive.</p>
FetesAndFuries<p>I really think Tony Jones and Samuel West are the hardest working actors in the land as they seem to be in practically every radio 4 drama I’ve listened to over the last couple of weeks (as well as Toby Jones in the Detectorists of course).<a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Radio4" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Radio4</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BBCRadioFour" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BBCRadioFour</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/tobyjones" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>tobyjones</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Detectorists" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Detectorists</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/samuelwest" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>samuelwest</span></a></p>

Pickwick the Dodo<p>This made me laugh. I love this series but this one was particularly enjoyable. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BBCRadioFour" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BBCRadioFour</span></a><br /><a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0017kfg?partner=uk.co.bbc&amp;origin=share-mobile" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0017kfg</span><span class="invisible">?partner=uk.co.bbc&amp;origin=share-mobile</span></a></p>
Ian Potter<p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>introduction</span></a> I hadn&#39;t realised it was the form to do those here.<br />I&#39;m Ian. I used to be a curator of TV but I&#39;m much better now. I write. Highlights include a couple of books on TV, some radio comedy, a couple of <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BBCRadioFour" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BBCRadioFour</span></a> documentaries and drama (much of it <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/DoctorWho" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DoctorWho</span></a> or Doctor Who adjacent for <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BigFinish" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BigFinish</span></a> Productions). I also do bits of sound design and performing, write occasional short stories and riff terrible old movies for <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/RiffTrax" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RiffTrax</span></a> Presents.<br />I&#39;ll largely prattle nonsense here.</p>
