#LinuxAudio people, #Reaper in particular.. can anyone explain "Period" size to me? (god that name...)

From what I read I should set around 2-3 with my Blocksize around 64 when recording (guitar in my case). However I get pops until I move it way up to around 6. I am running the #AudioThing Outer Space 2 (Roland Space Echo clone) while playing.

I'm curious why this needs to be set so high? My interface is a Scarlett 2i2.
