Good morning. 🐟🐠🐡

7 June 2025

The French Open women's final takes place today at Roland Garros, featuring Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) vs. Coco Gauff (USA). Sabalenka is the favorite to win, but I’m naturally rooting for Gauff. The match starts at 9:00 a.m., so I’ll need to carve out time to watch.

Coco's odds of winning sit at 32%, but tennis is full of surprises—upsets happen all the time. It’s as much a test of mental toughness as it is of skill. I watch the game, but sometimes I wish I had played when I was younger. I don’t even know if my high school had a tennis team. Not that it matters—it takes a rare kind of person to know exactly what they want early on and pursue it without hesitation. Most of us spend years learning through mistakes, shaping our path one step at a time.

Keene, my flag cichlid, waits for his morning food. This fish is ridiculously smart; I’ve never had a fish that honestly felt like it had a personality before. He will actually stare at me from ten feet away, and wiggle back and forth a bit when it is feeding time.

(I default to “he” because flag cichlids are almost impossible to gender, and because when I used “they” my daughter teased me saying “are you seriously worried about misgendering a fish?” 😅)

Slippery Nimo (2011);

After posting the anaglyph yesterday, I've decided to check the series of shots for this fish and "meditated" some form of art out of it, so here you go. First, the images were aligned, and then merged - this merging process actually was a matter of trial and error. Finally, decided to merge them by changing the blending mode for each layer.
I know this is not a Nimo, but there seems to be a clown or a nimo fish somewhere in between (not sure how I didn't notice that from the very beginning!).
