Apparently, Trump feels the import of the lower priced penguin shit is unfair to penguin shit farmers here in America.

He went on to say: ‘those penguins have been ripping us off for years’.

The British Antarctic Society has announced the publication of "Bedmap3", the third topographic model of the landscape beneath the Antarctic ice sheet, which is twice as detailed as the previous one #antartica

NatureBedmap3 updated ice bed, surface and thickness gridded datasets for Antarctica - Scientific DataWe present Bedmap3, the latest suite of gridded products describing surface elevation, ice-thickness and the seafloor and subglacial bed elevation of the Antarctic south of 60 °S. Bedmap3 incorporates and adds to all post-1950s datasets previously used for Bedmap2, including 84 new aero-geophysical surveys by 15 data providers, an additional 52 million data points and 1.9 million line-kilometres of measurement. These efforts have filled notable gaps including in major mountain ranges and the deep interior of East Antarctica, along West Antarctic coastlines and on the Antarctic Peninsula. Our new Bedmap3/RINGS grounding line similarly consolidates multiple recent mappings into a single, spatially coherent feature. Combined with updated maps of surface topography, ice shelf thickness, rock outcrops and bathymetry, Bedmap3 reveals in much greater detail the subglacial landscape and distribution of Antarctica’s ice, providing new opportunities to interpret continental-scale landscape evolution and to model the past and future evolution of the Antarctic ice sheets.

The strain of bird flu H5N1 has now been found in Antartica. It is spreading across the peninsula meaning that Penguin and Skuas are in danger. This form of bird flu has been circulating across Europe, Asia and Africa causing devastation to both wild and captive birds since 2020. It is hope that this is not replicated in Antartica.

If all of Antartica's ice sheet melted, the isostatic rebound of the continent (since the ice sheet does/did make a pressure on it) could sink the other continents by more that 11 meters. In addition to the sea level rise.
