15 Playing time and lineup notes from the early games (through 4PM EST) 3/29:

#Brewers: Frelick and Mitchell starting in B2B games vs LHP. Neither in platoons (yet). Mitchell was PH for vs LHP in 1st game

#Yankees: vs LHP and Rice is out (expected) with Grisham in CF. This may be the natural way to utilize the DH elsewhere with Rice getting full reps vs RHP

#Angels: Moncada joins the lineup and bats 5th right away vs RHP. Rengifo slides down to 7th

#WhiteSox: M. Vargas is their leadoff man

#STLCards: Lars Nootbaar leads off 2 straight. This lineup is identical to OD

#MNTwins: has mostly the same lineup vs RHP. Still no Julien. Mickey Gasper at DH and Bader to the bench

#BlueJays: sticking with Gimenez as the cleanup man

#Rockies: Nick Martini in both lineups so far vs RHP. Guess he’s a regular for now. Goodman is starting B2B games. Appears to be the starting C over Stallings

#Reds: Steer not in today’s lineup vs RHP. After playing day 1 and getting a rest day after. Is he simply a victim of them wanting to give someone else a chance to play in the opening series or do we have to worry about PT until he’s fully healthy? It is TBD

#Royals Maikel Garcia in vs RHP with Renfroe out. Will these two will eat into each other’s PT vs RHP? It’s something to watch for. Biggio started both vs RHP. Guess he currently has a starting role vs RHP

We might be getting a lot of eligibility here for him.

#SFGiants: as expected, Ramos leading off vs LHP. No Yaz or Wade Jr. vs LHP either so a reminder they’re strong side platoon

#Marlins: vs LHP — Stowers and Hill everyday guys so far. Mervis, Pauley, and Conine seem like strong side platoon types. Otto Lopez up to 2nd vs LHP. Expected higher vs LHP and lower vs RHP for now

#Rays: Mead led off and started 1B vs LHP but sitting vs RHP. Aranda at 1B vs RHP. Looks like a potential platoon. Misner (LHH) in vs RHP. With Lowe out he could get a look. Likely strong side platoon

#Phillies: as expected Schwarber leading off vs RHP

#Guardians: Manzardo 3rd vs RHP and 5th vs LHP. Everyday player right now. Daniel Schneemann in vs RHP at 2B. Arias started 2B vs LHP. Platoon watch here

16 Opening Day lineup and playing time notes/reaction from the early games

#Brewers left Turang, Mitchell, and Frelick in vs LHP (batting Frelick ahead of Mitchell as well). Capra in (expected) and Dunn out.

#Reds Candelario at 3B vs RHP and Lux in OF. We could see this often with Hays on the IL. Lux batting 4th though suggests a mid order spot to start even if Hays returns.

#BlueJays Andres Gimenez batting 4th... I mean... sure?

#Cardinals Lars Nootbaar leading off vs RHP and Masyn Winn 9th

#MNTwins Matt Wallner in fact secures the leadoff spot. vs RHP. Bader really is in for a decent role while healthy is my read

#Yankees are giving Austin Wells a shot at leading off. Volpe still batting 7th and Ben Rice got into the Opening Day lineup as DH and batting 8th. Watch his PT. I think his production will directly dictate the length of the leash.

#Royals vs a RHP and Vinnie P. is in at DH with Biggio at 1B and we got Melendez and Renfroe getting first crack at the OF. How much is Vinnie P. playing DH getting in the way of M. Garcia's PT (out on Opening Day). Is Garcia's PT in question vs RHP? India playing day 1 at 3B. Eligibility watch here.

#Marlins Matt Mervis batting 4th. Should play at least vs RHP. Hill is in the LU vs RHP. Could be in line for a regular role to start. Jonah Bride batting 3rd and that could stick until Norby returns. G. Conine another name to know for streaming power.

#Orioles have Cowser leading off vs RHP. Shoudl suggest a decent LU spot vs RHP when Henderson returns (Henderson will lead off). Mullins batting 7th and no sign of Kjerstad. Is he the odd man out (sent down) when Henderson returns? Oh but Westburg batting 3rd vs RHP is a good thing.

#Rangers have Pillar in CF vs LHP. Looks like a platoon in CF. Hiashioka in at C. Platoon or just splitting reps in Tex at C?

#Phillies have Turner leading off vs LHP (expected) but we could see Schwarber leading off vs RHP. I would expect that personally. I am more surprised of Castellanos batting 7th vs RHP but this allows them to go L/R all the way up and down the LU.

#Nationals went heavy LHH at the top vs a RHP. Will this stick? If so, Dylan Crews is the biggest loser as he goes down to 8th in the order today. We will monitor this closely.

#Guardians Kyle Manzardo batting 5th vs a LHP. Maybe his platoon is not strict after all. Interesting. J. Noel and G. Arias in vs LHP also makes sense. We need to see their PT vs RHP

#Mets have L. Acuna starting BUT it is vs a LHP so this should not be a surprise to anyone. Same with Taylor in vs LHP.

#Angels Nolan Schanuel batting 2nd vs RHP. They showed this at the end of spring. Tim Anderson batting 5th though is a choice.

#Pirates Endy Rodriguez at 1B. Has a ton of value as a C2 in two catcher leagues as long as he has the playing time.
