#BillionairesAreAPolicyFailure, and these #AmericanOligarchs are the real enemy in the insurgency that is, as we speak, dismantling American democracy.

At its most basic level, capitalism is simply a set of empirically correct observations about how the world actually works, economically. That was proven conclusively during the Cold War. But the obscene levels of wealth controlled by these individuals gives them an influence over public policy that is deeply corrosive to governance by 'We, the People.'

To be a positive ethical force, capitalism NEEDS A CONSCIENCE: needs to start all planning by asking how each decision, each choice, each action is measurably making our shared world a better one to leave behind for its children and grandchildren. Because as the late Dale Brethower used to ask, "If you can't show me how you're adding measurable value...how do you know you're not subtracting it?"

And as I added: if you're SUBTRACTING value in an ecosystem, there's a term for that: PARASITE.

That story DOESN'T END WELL FOR THE PARASITE, either. #YeetTheRich

No one cares about the FIFA Club World Cup cuz it’s dumb but it’s the off season and I miss football so I watched the final match.

Shameful. All these players, wrapped in their country’s flag, and they still accept a medal and shake hands with the current US president who is terrorizing people who don’t fit his definition of “American.” I wish I hadn’t watched this.

I also wish I didn’t feel like I had a tinfoil hat on recognizing that a US owned team won. #AmericanOligarchs

🤣 (satire)

Seriously, ma sha' Allah.

The REAL revolution that needs to happen in America is atop (or atop the dead body of) the Democratic Party. Americans don't want #Trumpublicans lite like Cuomo. They want a party of humanity and compassion for THEM, that will put our #AmericanOligarchs back in their place.

@inthehands Yup, that's all I've seen so far too, even things like Mehdi Hasan's Zeteo.

Let a thousand flowers bloom, by all means: that's the lab in which innovative ideas can be tested, and the strongest emerge--but to compete with the likes of what our #AmericanOligarchs have now purchased, folks are eventually going to need to join forces with OTHER serious journalists, and scale.

But that makes humans harder to control, and more irritable when we see other people getting OBSCENELY wealthy off OUR labor while WE struggle--and our #AmericanOligarchs decided we all need to be poor and unfulfilled again.

It's time we #YeetTheRich--maybe atop SpaceX rockets, where they'll either explode on liftoff or die horribly in space.

Infosec ExchangeDavid Chisnall (*Now with 50% more sarcasm!*) (@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange)When I was a PhD student, I attended a talk by the late Robin Milner where he said two things that have stuck with me. The first, I repeat quite often. He argued that credit for an invention did not belong to the first person to invent something but to the first person to explain it well enough that no one needed to invent it again. His first historical example was Leibniz publishing calculus and then Newton claiming he invented it first: it didn’t matter if he did or not, he failed to explain it to anyone and so the fact that Leibniz needed to independently invent it was Newton’s failure. The second thing, which is a lot more relevant now than at the time, was that AI should stand for Augmented Intelligence not Artificial Intelligence if you want to build things that are actually useful. Striving to replace human intelligence is not a useful pursuit because there is an abundant supply of humans and you can improve the supply of intelligent humans by removing food poverty, improving access to education, and eliminating other barriers that prevent vast numbers of intelligent humans from being able to devote time to using their intelligence. The valuable tools are ones that do things humans are bad at. Pocket calculators changed the world because being able to add ten-digit numbers together orders of magnitude faster allowed humans to use their intelligence for things that were *not* the tedious, repetitive, tasks (and get higher accuracy for those tasks). If you want to change the world, build tools that allow humans to do more by offloading things humans are bad at and allowing them to spend more time on things humans are good at.

#MetaZucks, because it's owner--by his own admission--deliberately made it #UnethicalByDesign. And oh yeah, is ANOTHER fascist collaborator with #AgolfShitler, who--as a member of our #AmericanOligarchs--has to be counted among the enemy who is seeking to make our government accountable TO THEM, rather than to 'We, the People.' #BillionairesAreAPolicyFailure
